Global sustainability and corporate responsibility

Being united in our responsibility to create healthier futures means we understand that our duty extends beyond the services we provide, the customers we serve, the team members we employ, and the communities where we live and work. 

It means we have an obligation to improve the well-being of human and animal populations by expanding access to quality healthcare, promoting diversity and inclusion, operating sustainably even in unprecedented times, and upholding the highest standards of safety and quality—all while ensuring our worldwide AmerisourceBergen family feels represented, heard, and valued.

This year, we have moved toward a more user-friendly approach to Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) reporting so we can meet stakeholders where they are. We are excited to launch this microsite and ESG Reporting Index, which provides detailed information on ESG performance. 
We had an even greater responsibility in 2020 to fulfill our purpose of creating healthier futures as the pandemic took its toll. We felt it was important to “start at home” with our approach by offering numerous benefits to provide more support to our team members and their families. For example, our Associate Assistance Fund assisted team members most severely impacted by COVID-19. The AmerisourceBergen Foundation remained active in communities and with individuals and non-profits responding to the COVID-19 pandemic—including Americares, Direct Relief, and Healthcare Ready. We also support our existing non-profit partner community with flexibility in ongoing grant terms and emergency grants for those hit hardest by the pandemic. 

We are proud that the AmerisourceBergen Foundation continues to focus on health equity, serving underrepresented and vulnerable populations with efforts that include addressing the opioid epidemic.  
We also remain committed to resilient operations that are good for our planet; a global team recently came together at AmerisourceBergen to further embed environmental sustainability into our operations for increased efficiencies and opportunities.

Despite these efforts, we know there is more to be done. We will continue to support those most affected by COVID-19 and remain committed to addressing health disparities around the world while strengthening diversity and inclusion both inside and outside of our organization. 
I want to thank all our stakeholders for partnering with us to bring positive change worldwide. I look forward to building upon the progress we have made and continuing to fulfill our promise of strong global sustainability.
