Healthy Communities for All

Team Member Support and Engagement

While volunteering looked different in 2020 due to the pandemic, we are proud and appreciative of our teams who helped us put people first by dedicating their time to give back to their communities. AmerisourceBergen encourages team members from across the enterprise to get involved by offering their volunteer time to support programs that improve healthy equity, enhance lives, and benefit our world. U.S.- and Canada-based team members receive eight hours of paid volunteer time off per year, and those who work part time receive four hours.

Micro Technologies associates volunteered with Snack Pak 4 Kids by packing thousands of bags of healthy brand-name snacks, which were delivered to participating schools and placed in students’ backpacks to be taken home. Snack Pak 4 Kids was established to address food insecurity and combat the hunger many school-aged children experience over the weekend.

We believe in supporting our teams in giving back to the causes that matter most to them. In FY20, we rolled out our myCommunityImpact platform to all global team members. myCommunityImpact includes our Matching Gifts and Dollars-for-Doers programs.

Matching gifts

AmerisourceBergen Foundation matches 100 percent of qualifying team member donations to any qualified 501c3 organization, and up to 200 percent to select organizations during special campaigns.

AmerisourceBergen Foundation provides a $750 grant for every 20 hours of volunteer time, and $1,500 for 40 hours of volunteer time logged by team members with any 501c3 organization. Team members serving on a non-profit board can also receive a $1,500 grant to be donated to that organization.
In FY20, together with our teams, we donated to organizations through myCommunityImpact:

At certain times of the year, we launch special campaigns to offer matches as high as 200 percent to amplify team member donations. Our most successful 2:1 match this year was in June in support of organizations focused on racial equality and social justice, as well as our Season of Giving holiday matching campaign.

Associate Assistance Fund

The AmerisourceBergen Associate Assistance Fund is a non-profit charitable organization established in 2012 to provide financial assistance to our team members and their families who are victims of natural disasters (e.g., fire, tornado, floods, etc.) or who are facing severe financial hardships. In 2020, we were able to quickly support team members directly impacted by the pandemic, such as those who tested positive for COVID-19, whose spouse experienced job loss, or who encountered additional financial hardship.
